Reflux extraction is a method used to determine the asphalt content in bituminous paving mixtures. Heating plates generate solvent vapor, which passes through the sample placed inside two wire mesh cones covered with filter paper. This method is used to determine the bitumen percentage in road mixtures by means of hot solvent extraction.
