BMT-STA – SHEET METAL FORMING TEST MACHINE

BESMAK® BMT-STA Series Sheet Metal Forming Test Machines evaluate the forming properties of sheet metals using standardized test methods. These machines can perform typical forming tests such as deep-drawing and stretch-forming in accordance with international standards. The BMT-STA series applies drawing forces up to 1,000 kN to assess material formability under extreme conditions. The system also facilitates the determination of Forming Limit Curves (FLC), which are critical for understanding the strain limits sheet metal can withstand before failure. BESMAK works in close collaboration with specialized partners to integrate advanced optical strain measurement technology, ensuring precise recording of strain distributions during forming tests. This enables engineers to accurately capture the material’s behavior right up to its forming limits.

Capable of performing a wide range of sheet metal formability tests with appropriate tooling, including:

  • Olsen (Erichsen) cupping test.
  • Bore expanding test (KWI test).
  • Fukui cup test.
  • LDH (Limiting Dome Height) test.
  • Hydraulic bulge test.
  • High-speed drawing tests (drawing speeds up to 30 m/min).
  • Elevated-temperature cupping tests (up to 550 °C).
  • Square cup deep-drawing test.
