BAS-515/2 – AUTOMATIC SOFTENING POINT APPARATUS (RING & BALL TEST SET)
The automatic softening point apparatus is used to determine the softening point of bitumen in accordance with EN 1427, ASTM D36, and AASHTO T53 standards. The machine can record the temperature for each bitumen sample individually and track the differences between samples. The bath temperature is measured and controlled by an electronic system to ensure the 5 °C/min temperature rise rate specified in the standards.
During the test, an electronically speed-controlled magnetic stirrer adjustable between 0 and 160 rpm is used to ensure homogeneous temperature distribution inside the bath.
Two test parameters can be selected via the microprocessor menu:

Boiled distilled water for softening point tests in the 30–80 °C range

Glycerol for softening point tests in the 80–150 °C range
The integrated control unit, featuring a touchscreen and graphical menu, enables command input and display of test results. Test data can be stored and printed using a compatible printer.
